My skin is something I try to take care of. I am pretty strict with my skincare routine. It’s so much easier to prevent damage than it is to fix it. Here are my top 3 tips for timeless skin.
P.S. it’s never too late or too early to start! And though these may sound cliché they’re timeless for a reason, because they work.
Screen the Sun
I’m borderline obsessed with sunscreen. I never leave my house without sunscreen on my face. I’m so regimented that my husband playfully teases and says that I even put sunscreen on at night because the moon is going give me a ‘sunburn’.
Protecting your skin (especially delicate facial skin) will keep it in tip top shape. My moisturizer has sunscreen in it which I wear every day. And I do put it on if I’m going out at night, so my husband technically is right but it’s not because I’m afraid of the moon giving me a moonburn 😂
Hydrate From the Inside
Water. Water. Water. Your body is made up mostly of water! Water helps your body function properly including your skin. I can’t stress the importance of hydrating from the inside.
Sometimes when I travel, I forget to drink more water (something I’m trying to work on!). And I tell you, I notice a difference in my skin. When I forget to drink more water, especially when I’m doing a lot of travel, I notice my skin gets drier, my fine lines become a bit more noticeable and my complexion looks duller. A lot to deal with when the cure is simple…drink water!
Remove Your Makeup
Even if I get home super late from a night out, it doesn’t matter how tired I am, I will always remove my makeup and wash my face before going to bed.
Leaving your makeup on overnight can clog your pores not to mention just think how dirty your pillowcase would be. Gross! Take off your makeup every night (no matter how tired you are).
Bonus tip: make sure you’re washing your pillowcases each week (even if you do wash your face every night). I’ve noticed if I go longer without washing my pillowcase I can get a small breakout. Sleeping on freshly cleaned pillowcases each week will keep your skin happy.
Keeping these tips in mind will help prolong your skin’s elasticity and glow. It’s something I try to keep up with every single day. I’ll be sharing more detail of my skin routine in upcoming posts. Do you follow any of these tips already?
